2011 - Pegasus sells software product line to Jeppesen.

Pegasus Interactive announced today that it has sold the computer-based training programs it developed and previously marked under the VFLITE brand name. The courseware had recently been resold by Jeppesen as part of the Jeppesen Avionics and CFI Knowledge Libraries.

The courses are highly interactive, multimedia-based eLearning applications for initial and recurrent training on glass cockpit, panel mount and handheld avionics, including the Garmin® G1000, GNS® 530W/430W, GPSMAP® 696/695, GPSMAP® 496/495, GPSMAP® 396/395, as well as other portable GPS hardware. More information on these products is available here. Jeppesen has also acquired several computer-aided instructional programs originally created by Pegasus Interactive that help flight instructors dynamically convey key flight training concepts. In addition, Jeppesen has purchased a popular weight and balance planning application for light GA aircraft.

Initially marketed by Pegasus Interactive under the VFLITE brand beginning in 2002, the award-winning avionics eLearning courses address the highly perishable skills syndrome that affects pilots using complex cockpit systems. This series of scenario-based, guided simulation courseware use a three-step learning methodology (demo, training & solo modes) that first shows a task (using animated graphics and narration), then lets the student practice the same task, using high fidelity simulation aided with on-screen text prompting, with and without assistance (for reinforcement and assessment). This multi-mode learning methodology, pioneered by Pegasus Interactive and now widely adopted, has proven to let pilots retain a significantly higher percentage of avionics "knobology" and is much more effective than video-based training.

Jeppesen is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado and has offices located around the world. Jeppesen is a subsidiary of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, a unit of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. With over 70 years of industry leading experience, Jeppesen makes it possible every day for people around the globe to safely and efficiently reach their destinations.
